Celebrity Caregiver Stories

There are only four kinds of people in this world,” former first lady Rosalynn Carter once wrote. “Those who have been caregivers, those who currently are caregivers, those who will be caregivers, those who will need caregivers.”

When it comes to caregiving, celebrities are just like everyone else and caregiving is an issue that we all deal with at some point. Celebrities may not have to deal with the financial burdens that some families are faced with, but the emotional aspects are just as heartbreaking and inspiring.

Click on the links below to read a few of their stories.

Henry Winkler - Henry is also ambassador for the Open Arms Campaign supporting people living with upper limb spasticity (ULS), which affected his mother after her stroke in 1989.

Meredith Vieira - Caregiver for a husband with Multiple Sclerosis

Diane Keaton - Cared for her mother who had Alzheimer's for 15 years

Brooke Shields - Her mother was diagnosed with dementia and progressive Alzheimer’s disease.

Jodie Foster - Her mother suffers from dementia

Being a caregiver can be a lonely life and sometimes it seems that the only people that really understand what its like to be a caregiver are other caregivers. We come in all shapes, sizes and walks of life, but we are all the same. We all have stories. We love, we care and we make a difference to those we care for. You are all celebrities to us and we would love to hear YOUR story! Feel free to share you stories and adventures below and have a great day.
