Its tax time again and I thought I would try to find out what kind of caregiver deductions and credits are available this tax year. I found an article on the AARP website that explains all the possible deductions and credits for 2012. I was disappointed that there's not much different from previous years. I really hope our government opens their eyes to what a financial burden caregiving is becoming to families. Family caregivers save this country a LOT of money every year. According to an AARP study, the economic value of U.S. family caregivers for their unpaid contributions in 2009 was around $450 billion! If caregivers aren't given a break soon, I'm afraid EVERYONE will be feeling the burden....times 10.
